BillingMart provides a native, streamable HTTP Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://api.billingmart.com/mcp. Query receivables, draft invoices, and verify line items directly inside Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or custom agents with built-in human guardrails.
https://api.billingmart.com/mcpThe URL must end in /mcp. Omitting the trailing /mcp is the single most common setup mistake: pointing an agent to https://api.billingmart.com alone will cause the connection to stall.

Setup instructions for Anthropic Claude
Instructions:
- 1Open claude.ai in your browser, or launch the Claude Desktop app.
- 2Click your profile name or avatar in the bottom-left corner, then choose Settings.
- 3Select Connectors from the settings sidebar.
- 4Click Add custom connector.
- 5Paste the BillingMart MCP URL: https://api.billingmart.com/mcp (ensure it ends in /mcp).
- 6Click Add, then click Connect.
- 7A BillingMart authentication window will appear. Sign in, select the business workspace you want Claude to see, check your desired permissions (Reading, Drafting, Proposing), and click Allow.
- 8Return to Claude, start a new chat, and verify the BillingMart tools are active.
What your assistant can and cannot do
BillingMart enforces strict architectural boundaries at the database and function level. Your assistant can draft and analyze, but cannot move money autonomously.
1. Reading Permission
Permits the assistant to inspect invoices, client contacts, payment histories, and account aging reports. Sufficient to answer any financial or billing question.
2. Drafting Permission
Permits the assistant to compose draft invoices, estimates, and customer records. Drafts are saved in your workspace for human review. Nothing is sent to clients.
3. Proposing Permission
Permits the assistant to propose actions (e.g. send an invoice or record a payment). The proposal waits in the console for an authenticated person to review and approve.
What an assistant will NEVER do:
- ✕Never sends to a customer: No invoice, receipt, or reminder is dispatched without a human approving the send.
- ✕Never moves money: The assistant cannot charge a card, initiate an ACH debit, or issue a refund.
- ✕Never bypasses approval: Action proposals must be confirmed in the web console with session authentication.

Troubleshooting & verification
If your connection does not complete as expected, check these common items.
The assistant says "connected", but tool calls fail or time out
Verify the endpoint URL in your client configuration. It must end in /mcp. If it was entered as https://api.billingmart.com without /mcp, delete the connector and add it again with the complete address.
The assistant refuses an action and mentions a missing scope
Your connection was authorized with Reading permission only. To allow drafting invoices, disconnect BillingMart in your assistant’s settings and reconnect, making sure to check the Drafting permission checkbox on the sign-in screen.
The assistant cannot see any of my invoices or clients
You may have selected a different workspace during OAuth sign-in. Remove the connection, re-add it, and pick the workspace that contains your active invoice records.
